We were so impressed with Jose’s management of our daily itinerary, changing and adjusting the schedule according to what birds and animals had been spotted in the locality. Nothing prepares your eyes for the magnificent landscape and the spectacular colours of the birds. Our wish list to see Quetzals, Toucans and Hummingbirds was soon achieved. The sightings and photographic opportunities just kept coming and coming.
We were fortunate to have two sightings from hides of the magnificently ugly King Vultures. Our visit to Frog’s Heaven was wonderful. This is Jose’s business and one he is clearly passionate about. His young protege Frank handled the frogs and snakes with great skill and his knowledge seemed endless. Thank you Roy for bringing your flash equipment which certainly enhanced our photos and for your support and encouragement with our photography.
The BBQ, refreshments and meals with Jose’s family were delicious and much appreciated. Another highlight was our evening adventure with the bats. Again we were outdoors in the dark with bats flying around our heads. Thankfully we managed to capture some shots of them feeding using the flash equipment. Sadly our tour was soon over but we have come home with some fantastic memories and photographs. Thank you to Janette and Roy for organising such an amazing tour. Highly recommended
There is the opportunity to spend the night in 3 professional hides, which, while rather snug and basic, are well worth it as you get to see the bears in a variety of backdrops. In addition to the photographic opportunities, which are numerous, you also get the benefit of Janette’s considerable experience. I have been on a number of photography holidays/courses and I can honestly say I have never learnt so much especially in relation to editing in Lightroom.
Janette tailors her approach effortlessly to the experience of each member of the group and is always on hand to give advice and tips. She has an open and encouraging style, which in my experience is not always the case with tour leaders on these types of holidays. I came back with some stunning photographs, an increased confidence in using Lightroom and some truly wonderful memories.
My camera was quite new (bought the day before!) and Janette showed me some good features. In fact most of the ‘class’ had different cameras and we were amazed at how Janette interchanged to solve people’s camera problems. I liked the fact that the class was small so that Janette was easily accessible. Everyone was friendly and the fact that there was a varying experience in the class just made it more interesting.
The lady introducing us to the mammals was informative and gave good insight into the mammals behaviour. All in all, a great day; very interesting creatures and, I guess most importantly, we really felt that we had moved on considerably in camera techniques and we really liked some of the photographs that we took.

What camera do I need?
Any camera! You can use a compact camera to an all singing and all dancing state of the art DLSR with lenses to match.
The aim of our tours and workshops is you to learn a little about the natural world and to ENJOY your photography without getting too bogged down in the technical side of photography.
All of our tutors are there to help you with all aspects of photography and will be on hand for you during each tour.
What about the weather?
We have no control over this! it is of course never 100% certain, so we do have alternative locations and things planned for such eventualities. It’s worth remembering though that sometimes angry skies give the most dramatic results!
